How to create Impromptu/Quick Interactions?

Quick Interactions (Impromptu Interactions) in StreamAlive let you instantly engage your audience without needing to prepare a presentation in advance. When you connect StreamAlive to your live session or meeting— on platforms like Zoom, YouTube, or Teams—you can choose to skip uploading a presentation and instead rely solely on Quick Interactions to drive engagement.

Whether you're running a spontaneous poll, spinning the Winning Wheel, capturing emoji reactions, or launching a word cloud, Quick Interactions help you do it all in real time.

You can also create these directly from the Presentation Live Screen using the + New Interaction button — making it easy to launch any supported interaction with just a few clicks, based on the flow of your session.

Note that many of the buttons in the Presentation Live screen are hidden by default. They appear as your cursor moves to towards the edge of your screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need to upload a presentation to use Quick Interactions?
Nope! Quick Interactions are designed to work without a presentation.

  2. What platforms do Quick Interactions work with?
Quick Interactions work across Zoom, YouTube, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and all other supported platforms.

  3. Can I customize Quick Interactions before launching them?
Yes! Even when launching interactions quickly, you can edit your heading/question, interaction settings, and theme right before going live.
If you want to spend more time customizing your interactions, we recommend using the Presentation Builder to set up your interactions in advance.

  4. What kinds of interactions can be used as Quick Interactions?
All StreamAlive interactions can be created.

  5. Can I run multiple Quick Interactions in the same session?
Absolutely! You can launch as many Quick Interactions as you need throughout your session—one after another or spaced out based on your flow.

  6. Will my audience know I didn’t prepare these in advance?
If you stop sharing the StreamAlive tab with the Presentation Live Screen, your audience will not be able to see you creating these in real-time.

Of course, taking the time to customize the interaction in the middle of your live session might break your flow, which is why we recommend setting up interactions in advance using our Presentation Builder.

  4. Decide whether you’d like to have an overlay asking your audience to type their responses in the chat.

This overlay is not necessary, but we’ve found that the audience sometimes needs a nudge on how to participate in the interactions.

  5. Once decided, a pop-up will appear asking you to admit the bot into the session.

This step might differ across different platforms. For example, in Google Meet, you will have to admit the bot into the meeting manually. However, for platforms like Twitch and YouTube, the bot joins automatically.

  6. You can now edit your interaction’s heading/question, configure the settings below, and choose a theme.

Setting a theme is optional. You can continue without entering a heading, configuring the settings, and choosing a theme. The interaction will be created with its default configuration and theme.
