How to connect to a Zoom Meeting using StreamAlive's App for Zoom

This tutorial will show you how to connect to a Zoom meeting using StreamAlive's app for Zoom. If you’d like to learn how to connect to other platforms, please refer to our other articles.

This can be achieved in two ways:

  1. Through the Web App

  2. Through the Zoom App

In this article, we’ll explain the second point which is through the Zoom app. However, here’s the documentation if you’d like to explore using the StreamAlive Web app.

The StreamAlive bot connects to your session and picks up your audience's comments. StreamAlive then turns them into the visual interactions on your screen.

With that being said, let us dive into the steps:

  1. Open the Zoom Client and go to the Apps tab on the horizontal bar menu.

  2. Click on the StreamAlive app under the “My Apps” section.

If you do not have the app installed, please refer to our article “How to Add/Remove the StreamAlive App”

  3. Log in with your StreamAlive account.

If you don't have an account yet, use the Sign-up, it's free option.

You can also use the interaction generator below the sign-up option to have a preview of what StreamAlive can do. It's as simple as entering a topic and clicking on Preview

  4. Once you're logged in, a pop-up will appear asking you to authorize StreamAlive for access to your Zoom account.

Authorising will allow StreamAlive to pull up pre-scheduled meetings from your Zoom calendar, it will also allow StreamAlive to directly connect to meetings with registration.

  5. You can now choose to:

    1. Run a new meeting with StreamAlive

    2. Connect to a scheduled Zoom meeting from your calendar (NOTE: This works when you authorize StreamAlive to have access to your Zoom account. Refer to step 4)

    3. Connect to the session using a meeting/webinar link

  6. Once you've decided, choose between continuing with one of your existing presentations (if any) or continue by running quick/ad hoc interactions for your meeting.

  7. If you choose to use an existing presentation:

    1. Choose one of your created presentations by clicking on the drop-down menu, and then click on Present to continue

    2. A pop-up will appear asking for permission to start a meeting. Click on Allow.

      1. A new meeting will start with Streamalive's Presentation Live screen opened, along with it asking you to admit the bot into the session.

      2. Once admitted, at the top, a pop-up should appear asking you to share your presentation screen with your audience. Click on the Share App Screen button to start presenting the visual interactions to your audience.

      3. Ask your audience to start typing in responses

      4. With that, you have successfully connected StreamAlive to Zoom

  8. If you want to run ad-hoc interactions:

    1. Click on Run quick interactions/ad-hoc interactions

    2. A pop-up will appear asking for permission to start a meeting. Click on Allow

    3. A new meeting will start with Streamalive's Presentation Live screen opened along with it asking you to admit the bot into the session.

    4. Edit and customize your interaction.

      1. Content Tab

        1. Heading/Options: Here is where you can enter the question/heading and options for your interaction.

        2. Interaction Settings: Scroll down and configure the settings for your interaction.

      2. Themes Tab: The Themes tab allows you to set a color scheme or design for how your slide will look.

From classic to scenic themes, scroll through the available options and choose what fits your presentation

        Click on Go when ready

    5. Once the interaction has loaded, click on the pop-out button to open it in a separate window

    6. Click on Share App Screen to share your screen with your audience

    7. Ask your audience to start typing in answers in the chat

With that, you've successfully connected StreamAlive to Zoom using the Zoom app.
